James Davenport

James Davenport serves as Managing Principal of JT Stratford’s Winston-Salem, North Carolina office, where he brings more than three decades of expertise in guiding individuals, families, and businesses toward financial security and success. Since beginning his career in 1987, James has dedicated himself to the art and discipline of comprehensive financial planning, with a focus on portfolio management, company retirement plans, and risk management strategies, including life, long-term care, and disability insurance.

James has built his practice on a foundation of trust, integrity, and education—principles that have defined his career and earned him long-standing client relationships. His philosophy is guided by five core beliefs:

Before joining JT Stratford, James was a partner at Colhoun, Robins, Davenport from 1997 until its merger with JT Stratford, where his leadership helped shape a culture of client-first service.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, James has been married for more than 39 years to his wife, with whom he has raised two wonderful adult children and now has a lovely granddaughter. His devotion to family mirrors the same values of commitment and care that he brings to his clients every day.
